
When Marx and Engels wrote in 1848 that “the history of all hitherto existing society is the history of class struggles”, they were right. A pity they got the classes wrong. Those pitted against each other are not the capitalists and the proletarians, but the parasites and the exploited. A group of people that broadly coincides with politicians and rulers lives by exploiting everyone else through taxation. The only true distinction is that between tax-payers and tax-consumers.
