Censorial statements by the director of Rai Radio 1 – Intervention by Confederazione Legale

It is well known that genuine pluralism has never had a home at RAI.
However, the statements made to the press by Dr Francesco Pionati, director of Rai Radio 1, regarding the radio programme hosted by Marcello Foa, which featured Dr Massimo Citro as a guest, have prompted the lawyers of Confederazione to call for his immediate resignation.
Indeed, it is unacceptable for an editorial director within the public service broadcaster to declare in no uncertain terms that the views of a broad section of the Italian population, as well as of the international scientific community, cannot and must not be given a platform in the main national media.
