THE EDUCATIONAL PACT OF CO-RESPONSIBILITY

The school year resumes and parents find themselves confronted with the pressing demand to sign yet another piece of bureaucratic paperwork invented by our restless legislature, the educational pact of co-responsibility.
This is a document provided for by Article 5-bis of Presidential Decree (DPR) 249/1998, which provides that at the same time as enrolment in the individual educational institution, the signature by parents and students is required of an “educational pact of co-responsibility, aimed at defining in a detailed and shared manner rights and duties in the relationship between the autonomous school institution, students and families.”

Whilst schools are therefore obliged to request that the pact be signed, no rule provides that the signature is mandatory. Above all, no consequence is provided for the failure to sign the “pact”. Therefore, parents who have written to us expressing their fear of consequences such as refusal of enrolment or the possible loss of parental responsibility can rest easy. If you do not sign the educational pact of co-responsibility, nothing happens.
Here is my advice for parents: ask for a copy of the “pact” and state that you will read it carefully, reserving the right to sign it if you agree, otherwise not. Many of these documents are nothing more than a vehicle for schools to reaffirm a dystopian agenda for our children's education made up of follies like climate change or gender ideology. Those who can and wish to do so should opt to take their children out of the formal education system (state and private) and choose homeschooling, an alternative model where it is parents, and not some ministerial bureaucrat, who monitor the quality of education.

It is worth remembering that Article 34 of the Constitution provides that “schools are open to all” clearly indicating that education cannot be made dependent on the signing of bureaucratic paperwork. Thus, the educational pact of co-responsibility is nothing more than yet another piece of paper that a caste of bureaucrats wants to impose on citizens. Resistance, boycotting and disobedience must be widespread and extend to every area of the bureaucratic cage. Refusing to sign the educational pact of co-responsibility is a good start.
