A signature collection is underway for a popular initiative bill aimed at amending the rules on abortion to require doctors to let a woman who intends to give birth hear the child's heartbeat and to show her an ultrasound scan of the foetus. My opposition to the useless laws that the Italian Republic spews at us on a daily basis is well known, but in the general disaster, a humane amendment to legislation that trivialises abortion seems to me a small but significant step. Whoever wishes and is able to, go and sign the proposal; it can be done in every municipality by 7 November 2023.
