HUNT FOR THE ABSTAINER

Interview with Alessandro Fusillo on Fabio Frabetti’s Border Nights entitled HUNT FOR THE ABSTAINER (FUSILLO live - Episode 96). Topics addressed include the controversy over abstention in the European elections and the meaning of awareness and morality in electoral abstention, the nature of the state and its ills, public and private healthcare, and ways to privatise public enterprises while preventing them from being acquired by the usual multinationals. From minute 50:30, we discuss the proposal for an advisory referendum on Italy’s membership of the European Union and the possibility of tabling a citizens' initiative bill to hold a referendum on the European Union; there is a precedent, namely Constitutional Law No. 2/1989, which provided precisely for a referendum on the transition from the Community to the European Union. At that time, the majority voted in favour of the European Union; today, almost everyone would be in favour of Italy leaving this useless and harmful bureaucratic superstate.
