MASKS REMOVED WITH A FORMAL NOTICE AND SMILES RETURN TO THE CARE HOME

I would like to tell the story of one of my clients. Mrs S.’s mother is a resident in a care home. Once the Ministry of Health's ordinance of 28 April 2023 expired – on 30 June 2024 – Mrs S. attempted to visit her elderly mother in the care home. But to her great surprise both the care home staff and its director denied her access, claiming that under the Ministry of Health's new circular, face masks remained mandatory.

At this point Mrs S. turned to my firm and I sent the care home the formal notice which can be downloaded here and which is essentially the same one I published on the website and on the Telegram channel (which can be downloaded here).
As soon as the formal notice was received, the care home completely changed its stance. Not only was no obstacle placed in the way of my client visiting her mother without a mask, but the entire care home changed its attitude. No one wears masks any longer, not even the staff.

Which demonstrates that often insistence on the mask issue is merely the result of ignorance. By explaining how things stand, excellent results can be achieved.

The mask is the foremost symbol of submission; it conceals people's faces and dehumanises relationships. For the elderly and for those who are unwell, a smile and a friendly face are worth more than all the medicine in the world.

Continuing to fight to reject the mask – especially now that it is unlawful – is very important.
Let us not lower our guard.
